Ride Attendant

The rides are more often than not gargantuan, and take a lot of time to set-up and tear down to move to the next spot (town/city). A typical ride has hundreds of moving parts, and it is your job to keep it in top form, for various reasons, safety being the main concern.

Please note that you will have to meet the following requirements; you must be drug and alcohol free, clean and well groomed, and have some basic mechanical knowledge. You must be able to follow instructions to the "T"... For this very reason you must be able to speak and understand English, You will also have to convey various instructions and safety messages to your guests. Another requirement is that you be healthy and fit, as you will be lifting a lot of heavy equipment! This position is most suitable for employees who enjoy working with their hands and are skilled in various trades.

The duties of a Ride Operator include, but are not limited to:

  • Assembly of the ride (children and adult rides), together with your team, as well as laying the electrical cables (lead lines) from the generator or power box..
  • Maintenance of your ride, including greasing, washing and sometimes polishing or waxing, and changing light bulbs.
  • Operation of the ride. It will be your duty to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely while the fair is open. You will be loading and off loading passengers, making sure that they are strapped in safely.
  • Your will be required to learn an follow all safety presages of the ride. What to do to insure that nothing goes wrong.
  • Disassembly of the ride. This will be your most arduous task after leading to long hour or labour intensive work after being on your feet all day.
